July 16, 2008 Board Meeting Minutes
ATTENDANCE:  Alan Sanchez, Darl Stuvick, Fred Sanchez, Karen Montez, Kevin Minkoff, Ed Dahm   Unexcused: Lee Powell, Carl Stein and Nancy Zuffrea  Guest: Dawn Tryon
CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by President, Alan Sanchez. It was moved to accept the June, 2008 board minutes, seconded and approved unanimously.  Karen presented the Treasurer’s report and motion to accept the report was seconded and approved unanimously. 
NEW MEMBER PACKAGES: Dawn Tryon presented a proposal for a new member relations committee for GABA. Dawn volunteered to chair the committee and implement the plans. Karen volunteered to help Dawn welcome everyone at the general meeting.
GOLF-O-RAMA STUDENT AWARD: It was moved to give $250 to David Douglas student Timothy Mahar from Golf-O-Rama scholarship proceeds, seconded and approved unanimously.
GENERAL MEETING SPEAKERS: Fred reported the following:
AUGUST:  There is no August general meeting. Members are encouraged to participate in and attend GABA sponsored  “Music in Ventura Park” on August 21 and 28
SEPTEMBER 11th meeting will honor police and fire at 111th SQUARE under the flag and tents. For $10@, businesses can sponsor (lunch and award) one or more police or fire fighters.
OCTOBER 9th meeting will be a political debate for Multnomah County Commissioner District 3 candidates
DECEMBER HOLIDAY SOCIAL: Fred asked a Board member to volunteer to chair the event, but no one did. 
GENERAL MEETING LOCATION:  AJ and Kevin will meet with venues for GABA meetings beginning in October, 2008.
COMMITTEES: 
Keystone Kops, Uniforms and Trailer: Kevin has recruited several Keystone Kop volunteers and is actively searching for more.
Fun-O-Rama:  The Board tabled the vote to authorize purchase of Fun-O-Rama photos from Rose City Images. David Ashton will be contacted regarding photos he took of the parade and fair.
NEW BUSINESS:  A motion was made to donate $120.50 to East Precinct Cadets for bicycle helmets, seconded and approved unanimously. There was discussion about guidelines for GABA reimbursed expenses. It was moved that GABA will try to use member businesses when possible and will not spend more than $50 for irregular expenses without GABA Board approval.

The meeting was adjourned at 12 noon.
