GABA January 20th, 2010 Board Meeting Minutes

ATTENDANCE: AJ Prasad, Lee Powell, Carl Stein, David Panichello, Lou Fontana, Karen Montez, Dawn Rasmussen & Dean Wiest.  Excused absence: Alan Sanchez & Mike Wolf.

CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by President, AJ Prasad at 6:05pm.  AJ welcomed new Board Member & Director, Dean Wiest.

BOARD MINUTES:  It was moved to accept the December 2009 Board Minutes, seconded and approved.

TREASURER’S REPORT:  It was approved & seconded to approve November/December Treasurer’s Report as presented by Karen.  AJ to forward December bank statements via email for subsequent Board Approval and bring to future meetings.  AJ confirmed that Columbia Bank has removed $7/mo service charge.  2010 GABA invoices to go out to all members.   
 
GENERAL MEETING SPEAKERS & MEMBER SPOTLIGHT:  Dan Saltzman of Portland City Council is confirmed for February 11th General Meeting (David to follow-up).  Randy Leonard, City Commissioner is earmarked for July meeting (Lou & AJ). Dawn has requested Board involvement in identifying speakers for pre-determined future topics.  A follow-up speed networking meeting was discussed.  Parkview Retirement (PCRC) will host free lunch again. (Thanks Lou!).  .

2010 FUN-O-RAMA & GOLF-O-RAMA:  Fun-o-Rama scheduled for late June (Sunday) to include parade this year in a loop format (102nd – 113th & Halsey – Weidler).  Food handled by Dad’s Club, ample parking identified & sponsorship commitments recognized.  Rotary Club & NW Motorsports involvement.  Additional sponsorships, marketing & key guests considered.  AJ suggested bringing back Golf-o-Rama the Friday prior and volunteered to Chair the Golf Committee.

PUBLICITY:  Initial tri-fold brochure has been created, awaiting Board comment for future distribution.  Discussion of including easy-use tear-off application on all marketing materials (brochure & newsletter).  Reminder calls to GABA Members to continue.  New GABA Banners are being considered in time for Fun-o-Rama.

SPONSORSHIP COMMITTEE:  Sponsorship letters are being proposed awaiting distribution.  Membership benefits to be highlighted and maximized.

NEW BUSINESS:  The Board nominated Dean Wiest as GABA’s liaison to APBNA; accepted, approved & seconded.  Discussion of creating a “Strategic Vision” to implement for our website & all publications.  Tom Mahoney has been nominated to Chair GABA’s Members Relation Committee; approved & seconded.  The Board discussed ongoing means to promote the David Douglas HS Musical Fund. The Board agreed to renew the existing Directors and Officers insurance policy for the upcoming year, authorizing Lee Powell to secure the binding of coverage for 2010 with our current carrier.
