GABA March 18th, 2009 Board Meeting Minutes
ATTENDANCE: AJ Prasad, Lee Powell, Carl Stein, Alan Sanchez, David Panichello (Karen Montez & Lou Fontana – Excused Absence)
CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by President, AJ Prasad at 11:10am.
BOARD MINUTES: It was moved to accept the February 2009 Board Minutes, seconded and approved.
TREASURER’S REPORT: It was moved to not accept the February 2009 Treasurer’s Report until our April meeting and upon Karen’s return; seconded and approved. Treasurer’s report to be updated into Quickbooks to include detail breakdown and aging report status. Waiting for last remaining checks to clear with WAMU to fully close account.
GENERAL MEETING SPEAKERS: April 9th General Meeting moved to 111th Square involving flag raising ceremony. Judy Shipwreck has been confirmed as key speaker at our May 14th General Meeting. Deborah Haga of Mt. Hood Community College ~ Stops to Success has expressed interest as a future key speaker. Jeff Merkley (Fred Sanchez) & Randy Leonard (AJ Prasad) also considered as future speakers; forthcoming contact to be made. It was moved to not have an August 2009 General Meeting in the same month of having our Fun-o-Rama ~ National Night Out. Dawn discussed having future drawings to help promote GABA businesses ~ Membership Spotlight.
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT: Tabled until next month in lieu of Lou’s absence. Additional detailed planning to include publicity, volunteers and activities. Members of GABA considered as vendors. Bands: Rock Band appearance fee of $200 for 3 hours confirmed and approved.
PUBLICITY: Wish to again thank Deborah Higa and her staff of volunteers to place reminder calls involving future General Meetings. Discussion of all Board Members placing calls to promote both membership and National Night Out vendor/sponsorship opportunities.
SPONSORSHIP COMMITTEE: Alan made a $5000 goal of earning sponsorship opportunities for National Night Out.
NEW BUSINESS: AJ agreed to have our annual Holiday Social at Columbia Bank in December 2009. Discussion involving the appointing of a new GRC PAC committee representative from GABA. Motion was made to have David Panichello organize a future Pancake Breakfast and to report to the Board in 60 days ~ seconded and passed. Discussion of acquiring gas grills and handler’s cards for such functions. Discussion of having KeyStone Kops making an appearance at the 82nd Avenue of Roses Parade.
