GABA June 16th, 2010 Board Meeting Minutes

ATTENDANCE: AJ Prasad, Lee Powell, Carl Stein, David Panichello, Lou Fontana, Karen Montez, Dawn Rasmussen,  & Mike Wolf.  Excused absence: Alan Sanchez & Dean Wiest.

CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by President, AJ Prasad at 6:10pm. 

BOARD MINUTES:  It was moved to accept the May 2010 Board Minutes as submitted by Carl, seconded and approved.

TREASURER’S REPORT:  It was moved & seconded to approve May/June Treasurer’s Report as submitted by Karen.  AJ to forward June bank statements for Board review & approval.  Several member renewals noted in April/June.  Karen updated our “current member – paid” list for tracking & acknowledging members during GABA General Meetings & reminder calls.  Additional emphasis noted for Board reminder calls and updating information pertaining to proper contact person(s), contact info (emails & phone numbers) and members wishing to be removed from correspondence.  Notification to both Debbie (website update) & Karen (accounts receivable & invoice reminders) with changes in membership.
 
GENERAL MEETING SPEAKERS:  John Wade – Center of Environmental Medicine is confirmed for July meeting.  Gateway Strategic Vision – member involvement and benefits (August) & Annual Appreciation Fair (September) are on the horizon.   Ollie Lund (local business owner of ~20 McDonalds franchises) suggested for November meeting – Local Business Success Stories.  Dawn requested all Board Members to prepare suggestions & feedback for July Board Meeting in maximizing member participation & value with GABA.  Suggestion to have members bring promotional items to membership meetings as business card prizes.   

2010 FUN-O-RAMA FAIR & CRUISE-IN:   The date has been confirmed!  July 18th, 2010 at Parkrose High School from 11am – 5pm.  Dean has completed our full color Fun-o-Rama Fair flyers ready for distribution to the GABA community.  Lou has configured volunteer sign-up sheets with individuals assisting from Parkview Christian Retirement Community, GABA, NE Rotary, NW Motor Sports & Little Chapel of Chimes.  AJ & Dean are working to renew GABA banners showcasing this year’s sponsors on 122nd Avenue.  Additional sponsorship opportunities are welcomed. 

PUBLICITY:    Lee coordinating media announcements, flyer distribution & GABA member acknowledgement of our scheduled festivities now confirmed for July18th. 
 
NEW BUSINESS:     AJ acknowledged being a member of the Gateway Redevelopment & Neighborhood Parks Committee located at NE 106th & Halsey St.  3 acre park and Community Center are being considered.  Fred Sanchez noted that David Douglas High School Music Fund sponsors need to forward logos to him for completion of recorded CD’s ready for distribution.  Dawn volunteered to write a refined script for General Meeting reminder calls.  Officer Young with the City of Portland Police was June’s recipient of the “Rubber Chicken” award at our recent GABA Meeting luncheon.
