2010 FUN-O-RAMA FAIR & CRUISE-IN: Lou offered a recap of our GABA Fair held July 18th at Parkrose High School. Fundraising efforts were highly successful with David Douglas High School collecting ~$1,800 (selling completely out of all hot dogs/hamburgers on hand), Parkrose High School with ~$1,400, Centennial High School raising ~$1,200 and Rotary tallying $133. Volunteers did a great job and the event was a success! Next year, the date is scheduled for July 31st, 2011 for our annual Fun-O-Rama/National Night Out, again at Parkrose HS & scheduled nearly a year in advance. Band & Booster Clubs from Barlow, Reynolds & Gresham High Schools to contribute to a food court & big tent area. Ron Tonkin is a scheduled key contributor next year. NW Motorsports to help contribute to offset costs for trophies involving cruise-in. Lou suggested involvement from the Trailblazers organization. Lee suggested a Master of Ceremonies (nominating David Ashton) to include improvements in the microphone and/or sound system. Dawn suggested inviting politicians and increase GABA’s exposure on local event & bulletin board broadcasts. The GABA banner is reusable adding generous sponsors to next year’s event. Improvement in enhancing vendor exhibitors with opportunities to our local non-profit charitable agencies noted.
GATEWAY STRATEGIC & VISION PLANNING: As this being a lengthy topic of discussion and heightened Board Member involvement requested, Dawn tabled this agenda item until September meeting for time restraint reasons. Dawn will prioritize the top 3 bullet points from topics discussed at the August 12th General Membership meeting covering areas from 1) Advocacy 2) Partnership 3) Education/Meetings/Involvement & 4) Membership. Relaying our findings back to our Members in initiating additional benefits, growth & excitement is a key GABA issue to address.
NEW BUSINESS: Fred Sanchez requested GABA sponsorship of 9/11 Responder’s Appreciation Fair on September 9th in the amount of $200. September 15th Board Meeting scheduled as a retreat to the hospitable home of Fred & Ann Sanchez. Thank-you Fred & Ann for your generous offering on behalf of GABA and it’s serving Board!!!
MEETING ADJOURNED: Meeting adjourned at 7:03pm.
