GABA September 16th, 2009 Board Meeting Minutes
ATTENDANCE: AJ Prasad, Lee Powell, Carl Stein, David Panichello & Alan Sanchez. (Karen Montez, Lou Fontana & Dawn Rasmussen – Excused Absence).
CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by President, AJ Prasad at 11:08am.
BOARD MINUTES: It was moved to accept the July 2009 Board Minutes, seconded and approved.
TREASURER’S REPORT: The August/September bank statements have been reconciled and balanced via email to AJ from Karen. It was moved and seconded to approve Treasurer’s Report subject to final reconciliation from Fun-o-Rama ~ NNO event. New member – Friends of Trees & sponsorship from Columbia Bank noted.
GENERAL MEETING SPEAKERS & MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: Fireman & Police Appreciation Fair (Sept 10th) was well received. Hannah Martine (Effective Networking) slated for October 8th General Meeting. Anthony Miller (Stepping Stone Solutions – referral generation) confirmed for November 12th Meeting. Friends for Trees to briefly speak at October Meeting. Holiday Special further discussed. Ideal location brings associated costs. Radison Hotel was suggested to host. Food Baskets & hosting a Medical Day (cholesterol screening & blood pressure testing) were suggested by Lee. Carl suggested having a “New Year GABA – 2010 Kick-off Appreciation Social” in January.
FUN-O-RAMA ~ NATIONAL NIGHT OUT: Lou to recap the event next month due to absence. Discussion of feedback, proceeds, involvement, improvements and overall success at next meeting. Lou to provide a fully reconciled budget from event for Board review.
PUBLICITY: Calls from Deborah Higa’s volunteer staff to help drive membership to General Meetings still going strong. Creating & distributing post-cards from Amazing Mail to Members discussed. Suggestion of offering $100 gift cards to members who enlist 3 new paid members to GABA. Creating an email survey (zoomerang) with link attachment for member feedback was discussed.
SPONSORSHIP COMMITTEE: AJ to coordinate with Dawn to revise sponsorship letter in establishing early preparation for next year’s Fun-o-Rama event. 3 suggested Sponsorship Levels - $500 ~ $400 ~ $300. Sponsorship opportunities must be addressed early into 2010!
NEW BUSINESS: Priority to keep in touch with our GABA Members through continuous mediums of phone calls, physical advertising (mailings/postcards) and email solicitations yet in minimizing costs to our Members. Fred to help create a GABA Directory of GABA’s history was discussed. It was noted that we are in need of new receipt books for GABA events & lunches.
